Re: Ju 87D-5 Etzweiler
I'm interested. Where did you get Etzweiler as a location? It isn't included in the Gen. Qu. loss report for this aircraft that I have.
The machine came from 1./NSG 1. NSG 1 put up 74 sorties that night (translated Lw.Kdo. West daily reports, UK National Archives) and reported four machines and 8 crew missing. NSG 2 also lost an aircraft. Two of the NSG 1 losses were attributed to Flak (Gen.Qu.). A P-61 claimed one Ju 87 shot down and one damaged, at 04.57 and 05.06 on 2 March 1945. On 4 March there were 43 Ju 87 at Wahn and 30 at Kirchhellen. In February and early March, Wahn and Ostheim were used by NSG 2 and Kirchhellen by NSG 1. |
Re: Ju 87D-5 Etzweiler
thanks for the reply,Nick
i have a part from that plane with a werknummer still on and there was still a label in paper attached on with a date 2003 that probably was the date the plane was recovered. |
Re: Ju 87D-5 Etzweiler
Gentlemen,
the Airwar Research Group Rhein/Mosel e.V. has recovered the mentioned Ju-87 in 2003 at the location ETZWEILER. The STUKA was shot down by a Black Widow which scored a second Ju-87 which crashed at Niederbolheim/Noervenich. A full report is avail in German. Please contact me offline. J.D. |
