Sorry, but your spelling of the brew usually known as beer (as bear is a rather large and dangerous animal, I believe any german aircraw that would try to 'take' one would definitely end up in the casualty list) got me thinking of a story I heard about the Finnisch guy Toivonen when I was young.

It was the day Toivonen was doing the great Finnish ritual of manhood. This ritual consisted of three tasks.

First, he should drink a liter of vodka straight down, then he should run out into the woods and kill a bear with his knife, and last he should run back to town and have his way with the first woman he saw.

Toivonen drank the vodka and ran out into the woods. The time passed and there was no sign of Toivonen, but just as the sun was setting Toivionen came running into the city, bloody all over and shouting 'Where is the woman I am supposed to kill!'

I was interested to read this exchange. At 1318 hours on 7 Feb 1941, an He 111 flying at 1,000 ft released 20 HE and 9 IB across the Harbour Works and plant at Lowestoft, Suffolk. The main bascule bridge was 'straddled' by bombs, serious damage was done to the bridge house and LNER works and plant, and 12 people were killed.
A gun crew from No.158 LAA Battery claimed a hit on the He 111.
The next day, Lowestoft Police reported that pieces of aluminium alloy from the He 111 had been found in the East Suffolk County Council Yard at Pakefield, S of Lowestoft.
I believe the crash near Zeebrugge involved the He 111 hit over Lowestoft - comments, anyone ?

Hi.

According to the tale.... as it was told me during the cold war, his descendant became the first political officer in the Soviet Army - the bastard son of a drunk Finn youngster and a female bear. I hope I do not get flamed now!!

Well - having a good time this week guys, even if the temperatures in the reading room at BA/MA was beyond belief today!

Found some very interesting stuff (at least to me) on FW 190 and Ta 152 production and how the Sonderausschuss F4 for this was organized, and also the daily reports of the activity of the Luftwaffe in the far North for most of 1943.
