The "sonar photos" are (of course) pictures of the H2X display screen (VDU in today's terminology) in a PFF aircraft.

I think he meant...

H2X radar, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H2X_radar
VDU = Visual Display Unit (i.e. screen)
PFF = Pathfinder Force

In other words they're photos of the radar screen that H2X-equipped pathfinders use to find targets.
