Attack on Russian Cruiser, 11.8.41
Does anyone have any further information on an attack by 1./406 on a Russian Cruiser during the evening of 11 August 1941?
Any details on number of aircraft involved, whether torpedos or bombs were used, which Russian ship (if it was correctly id'd) was involved and where the attack took place would be greatly appreciated. TIA Adam |

Re: Attack on Russian Cruiser, 11.8.41
Hello Adam,
could you please give us precise place of the attack?! From my sources it seems that no Soviet cruiser nor destroyer was damaged on 11.VIII.1941. But it would be easier to id the vessel for which you are looking for if you would tell where to look for this vessel (Baltic, Black See or Northern Fleet)! |

see this: http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=1842 , last post
this attack is also mentioned in KTB SKL without detailed information. location is somewhere near Estonian north coast. possible targets: Kirov, destroyer of type 7U (with two funnels), or just any warship. I have no further information. |

I got the info for the attack from the same microfilm role you sited (I'd not seen the original post until you pointed it out), but was after clarrification of either the ship being the "Kirov" or just an unnamed vessel.
Thanks all the same guys Adam |

Hello,
Destroyer "Artyom" ("Novik" class) was under air attack (unsuccessful) between Estonian coast and Dago island. Regards, Andrey |
