Re: 18.08.43 RAF loss
Hi Jeremy,
Couldn't find any relevant entries in Fighter Command Losses, Vol 2, 1942/43,
as the only operational loss recorded for 18/8/43 was Spitfire VC, AR506,
flown by F/O CB Smith (RAAF), 131 Sqn, who suffered engine trouble over
France (POW).
Perhaps it was a communications a/c or an a/c of another command. There's
also the possibility he overclaimed.
