Wybe, Middlesbrough railway station was bombed by a low-flying single Do217 shortly after 1.00pm on 3 August 1942. The pilot flew through the town's balloon cordon to reach his target - a feat that brought grudging admiration from a number of those who witnessed it. I have been researching the raid for a number of years and have interviewed countless eye-witnesses. If I knew who was responsible, I think that the tale would be complete. I have narrowed the field down to KG2 or II/KG40. I am increasingly inclined towards KG40 but my mind is still open. Over the years I have posted related questions on this Forum (probably much to the boredom of those who have been members as long as I have) - but you know what it is like when one needs to find that last piece of a puzzle.
