Condor claim on July, 9 1943
Hi,
A portuguese magazine asked to make one article about the fight that hapend in south Portugal on the 9 of July 1943. Four Condor's where involved from III KG40, and one was shot down by a Beaufighter from 248 squadron. The german crew is still buried in Aljezur.
The crew Killed was the one from FwGunther Nicolaus. the other pilot's were Oblt Sacher, Oblt Graul and Ofw Billing.
The RAF had three aircraft on location. Two beaufighter's from 248 Squadron, from Predannak, and a Hudson from 233 Squadron, that came from Gibraltar. reading some of the notes I found one stating that a Condor calimed the Hudson on that day.
Can anybody confirm which Condor made the claim?
I have also a file from the Luftwaffe on that day stating that besides the men lost in Nicolaus plane there was also a wounded men on the combat that returned home. It was Gefr Rudolf Loy that had severe injuries in a hand and legs and was sent to a hospital in Bordeaux.
There is no information about the aircraft he was in. Any idea?
I thank you all in advance,
Best regards
Carlos
