Fähnrich Krűger of I/JG11 info needed
On 1st May 1945 Ist Gruppe of JG 11 (aka I/JG11) escorted a ground attack unit in the Schwerin area. They were attacked by Spitfires and 5 pilots were MIA (KIA). The names were noted by a unit comrade in his personal diary (this information is from Eric Moombeck). All that happened about 20.00 – 20.30 hour. I have found that I/JG11 airfield on that day was Neustadt – Glewe (on the South of Schwerin).
One of them was Fähnrich Krűger (first name unknown) of I/JG11. We have information that Krűger was missing following aerial combat with Spitfire fighters in Schwerin area . Probably he is still MIA.
He was shot down in North of Schwerin Road (Neu Lűbstorf – Rugensee area) by three Spitfires Mk. XVIe from 421 Royal Canadian Air Force.
The aircraft Focke Wulf 190 was going to Schwerin by road 106 (current number) when have been spotted and destroyed. The pilot most probably was killed because of low altitude of flying.
I would like to know: first name of Krűger, his date of birth, and type of an aircraft, serial number, where he is buried or is he still missing in action.
Maybe members who have access to biography J.Prien - JG 1 und 11 can help me
to confirm facts about Fähnrich Krűger.
Best regards
Piotr Mikos
