Good evening Ivonne !

According to German reports, your grandfather's aircraft probably came down at apx. 22:15 about 2km West of Pont l' Evèque, France.

German AV-report # 1197/44 states:

7 Jul 44 2215 2engined plane AF NO.AC 42-96129, Model B-26 B- 55 MA
2km W of PONT L'EVEQUE

There is a second German report, Luftgaukommando report # KU 668A:

7 Jul 44 2230 MARAUDER CAEN

Since there was only one B-26 loss that day, I believe, that your grandfather's plane is also mentioned in this report.

To gain more information, you should order those reports from the National Archives at College Park, Maryland. Additionally, the Missing Aircrew Report of your grandfather's B-26 could gain more info. It's also available at the Mational Archives and has the number 6632.

Your grandfathers's initial restplace in France was the U.S. Military Cemetary La Cambe Cemetary, Isigny, France and he now rests at Saint Laurent (Permanent Cematary) Saint Laurent, France.

Hope, to could help you a bit.

Best regards !
