Hello,
The reconstruction of the He219 production and its Werkenummer/Stammkennzeichen/prototype assignments is quite complex, due to contradictory publications. With the He219 documentation from the Heinkel Archives a lot of misunderstandings can be solved partially.
The first flying testbed for the ejection seat in the Heinkel He219 was He219A-0/V-6 (Werkenummer 190006), Stkz. DH+PV.
After 12 prototypes, the A-0 production started for real with He219A-0 (Wnr. 190051). Some of these were assigned for specific tests, Wnr.190112 for a 3-man cockpit cnoversion for instance.
Therefore, Werkenummer like
190016 (Modell.Mag.9/84)
190020 (Modell.Mag.9/84, Remp/136)
190038 (Remp/120)
have not existed and must be considered errors.
The next, documented loss of a He219 in which the crew was able to rescue themselves with ejection seats, was the He219A-023/V-19 (Wnr.
190073) on the evening of April 11th, 1944.
The first He219 with Stkz. DH+Dx (which was the DH+D
A) had Wnr.
190105. Stkz. DH+D
I belonged to He219A-042 (Wnr.
190113),
not He219A-019 mentioned in Remp's book.
All the best, Marcel Hogenhuis
