Re: Seeking Confirmation of a 234 Sqn Loss

I haven't seen this thread before, and many questions may be answered by the site mentioned already.

I can assure you that the squadron was 234 sqn - I have a copy of the ORB. A.A.Svendsen was one of three Danish pilots at that time operation the three Spits bouhgt by Danish donations. Before 234 sqn he was stationed at 32 sqn. acc. to my sources.

Two photos of A.A. Svendsen on the wing of BL831 'Skagen Ind' : http://images.kb.dk/image?id=dh001304 / http://images.kb.dk/image?id=dh001308. The other pilot is Joergen Thalbitzer, his best friend. There is a replica of AZ-G 'Valdemar Atterdag' at the Tangmere Museum.

He was posted to 234 sqn on 3.4.42 and KIA 24.4.42. The German pilot that shot him down is - most likely - to be one of the following: Oblt. Kurt Ebersberger, Oblt. W.-F. Galland or Ofw. Hermann Hoffmann, all II./JG26.

I shall not guess about the confusion, though.

Regards, Mikkel
