That's the one - not sure where I got soldbuch from! It should be with me tomorrow as I received the Fedex email today. I couldn't resist it, that he flew something abit different from the normal ones you see for He-111 or Ju-88 aircrew appealed to me.

Thank you Chris - it lists his death as being 'Shot down in air combat' on the Luftwaffe In Norway site. On that day it also lists a Bv-138 as being lost in air combat and a Me-109 from II/JG 5 (lost in combat with a P39) but looking at Google Earth the location of his death is approx 470km North-East of the Shetlands so it wouldn't of been a Soviet fighter. I wonder what the Fleet Air Arm were up to that day?
