Thanks for the pointer - I have now attempted to translate that part of the letter which states...
"...
the crash even more inexplicable. Wlhelm flew air cover for a convoy. He was already hanging 3 / 4 hour at the convoy when he suddenly crashed in a curve. Immediately to the accident site....could recover only the body of our dear comrades."
But the Kracker Archive has the following...
KIA 14 June, 1943; shot down by Soviet fighters near Hustadvika. His Observer, Uffz Willi Seedorf, was also killed. Source: SIG Norway. ...but unless there is another Hustadvika in Norway (which doesn't show on Google Earth) the area of his crash seems to be out of range for Soviet fighters.
