Stab KG1 Heinkel He111H-2 (2725). Engaged by fighters during reconnaissance sortie to Maubeuge and believed that shot down by F/O W.E. Gore, P/O T.D. Jay, and P/O P.L. Parrott of No.607 Squadron.Crashed into buildings at Avesnes-le-Sec under fire from the ground (5e Comp. Mitr. DAT) 12.30 p.m. FF Uffz Robert Diekmann baled out but fell to death in Mastaing, BS Uffz Ernst Türpitsch, and BM Gefr Walter Brelage both killed, BO Oberlt Georg Schuster captured mortally wounded - died in Valenciennes military hospital. BF Uffz Theodor Geppert captured wounded - later released. Aircraft V4+EA 100% write-off.
