Re: Attack on Plymouth 12 Aug 43

The book "It came to our door" by H P Twyford, (Underhill Ltd., 1946) has a two page account of this raid. Says the last paragraph:

"The "intruder" tactics succeeded at Plymouth to an alarming degree. The barrage, in which such confidence had been felt, could not get going against the mix-up of our returning bombers and the enemy aircraft. Only one parting salvo went up from the rocket barrage, and the guns barked off some 3,000 rounds without success."

41 people were killed, about 90 seriously injured, and 70 slightly hurt.

No idea of the units involved, but it must surely have involved KG.2 and KG.6 ?

Can scan the above for you if you are interested Chris.
