RAF Mustang IV's

I have never seen much reference to use of these fighters by the RAF in

North West Europe 1944-45. I believe they were operated by 121 Group

and used as long range escorts to daylight Lancaster attacks in the same

way as P-51D's were used by the 8thAF on their raids. Do anyone have

any revealing information on these ops. such as numbers involved,

number of occasions they were carried out, losses and relative

success etc. Was the RAF Establishment keen not to emphasize the use

of non-British aircraft in the front line close to home?
