S/L Richard Neil Chudleigh, DFC.
Can any Forum members help me locate a photograph of the following RAF officer:
39712 Squadron Leader Richard Neil Chudleigh, DFC.
Chudleigh received the DFC with 96 Squadron for destroying ‘two enemy aircraft at night’. He also destroyed ‘many flying bombs, six of them in one night’.
I would also be interested in any photographs of:
145489 Flying Officer (Nav.) Harold Devening Ayliffe, DFM.
These two airmen flew as a night-fighter crew both overseas and in the UK. Ayliffe had won the DFM in North Africa as a Sergeant with 153 Squadron.
Ayliffe was killed in France on 04/08/1944 whilst flying with Chudleigh in a Mosquito of 151 Squadron. Chudleigh survived and returned to the UK
Any information regarding sources of possible photographs depicting both/either of these airman or further information would be most gratefully received.
Kind regards, Malcolm.
PS: I am aware of the picture shown in Beaufighter Aces of World War 2 that includes Ayliffe in the Squadron line-up.
