At the end of October, 1939, Freytag was Obergefreiter in the I/LG2, I think based in Utersen, and back from Poland. He is Fahnenjunker unteroffizer in January, 1940, and in the 6/JG 77 in April, in Norway.
So I guess he had a degree (something enabling him to go to university?) in order to be able to become officer?
And ain't it strange that he could be Obergefreiter in the I/LG2, i mean isn't it a low rank?
