Which bodies/organisations would have been informed of a German pilots loss during WW2?

Can anyone tell me which bodies/organisations would have been informed after a German Pilot crashed on UK soil during WW2? I am assuming the Red Cross might have been told, but how did the news get filtered back to family/relatives of the downed airmen from an official point of view as although the Lufftwaffe would have known which planes they lost on a given raid/day etc, I am guessing that they wouldn't have known the specifics unless told through official channels or by organisations of some sort?

thanks

Guy
