Just to add, Robert Mann's "The B-29 Superfortress-a Comprehensive Registry of the Planes and Their Missions" gives Feb 27 under the entry for 42-24694. The basic source Mann used for the individual a/c listing in the book was their Individual Aircraft Record Cards. So the likely explanation for the two dates in various references, based on the other info in the thread, is that the inicident occurred Feb 23, but the a/c was only officially written off (on its IARC) Feb 27. I've seen a few similar cases in researching USAF a/c fates in the Korean War.
