Larry,

You may not be wrong in your original comment re 4.(H)/21 - Ries in Photo-"Collection Luftwaffe Embleme 1939-45" p37 has the following to say - "This staffel was known for the diversity of it's aircraft types, consisting at a time of several Hs 126s, one Bf 109 and two Fi 156s which all bore the Griffon emblem. For a time the staffel was designated 9.(H)/LG2, thus the code L2+.M" - this accompanied a photo of the forward fusalage of a Fi 156 clearly showing the Griffon emblem.

In Rosch p290 9.(H)/LG2 is indicated to have been formed in 1939 and disbanded in April 1942. 4.(H)/21 formed Jan 1939 and disbanded Jan 42 and the feldpost numbers for these units are different. Rosch shows, on P135, a different emblem on a Ju 88 attributed to 4.(H)/21!

On checking Holm there is an broad agreement with the data in Rosch and no duplication in the bases listed for these units.

Can anyone shed any light on why they both had the same emblem (if Rosch is in error) or has there been some confusion over the years?
