Re: Feldwebel Max Brandenburg
Hi!
In the book on KC winners from KG 1, written by Ralf Schumann, there is a chapter and picture of Ofw. Brandenburg.
It says.........and my german is not perfect.
..........little is known about MB. Got his pilot's licence in the thirthies and then transferred to KG 1 and followed the I./KG 1 to the eastern front.
Ehrenpokal 15.06.1942, DKG 13.08.1942.
Later in 1943 he flew with 5./KG 100 missions in the Med. In the beginning of March 1944 the Staffel transferred to LFK Reich - 5. Staffel went to Denmark to reequip to He 177.
The 10. of March the whole KG 100 was designated to the western Med to fly with Fernlenkwaffen Hs 293 and PC 1400 X.
Here he, and others, sank a tanker, 7000 BRT, 5 armed transports, 9400 BRT and troopcarrier, 3800 BRT.
He got his KC after more than 400 missions on 11.06.1944
Nothing more is known about him after this date.
Hope this helps a little
Christian
