Research is difficult, dismissal is easy. Why raise the ire of the British or American public with such stories? The British expected atomic bomb attacks and had plans in place if they occurred. When was the German atomic project officially over from a "functional capacity"? Yet, we have this:

As Soviet intelligence teams were allowed in the America zone, the JIC* claimed that it was critically harming American interests:
