Dear forum members,
It is my great pleasure to inform you that our tradition to invite foreign veteran pilots to Finland continues also this year:
Mr Karl Fritz Schlossstein (JG 5, ZG 76, JG 54) is visiting Finland on 19.-21. August.
Mr Schlossstein (born in 1918) had a long career in Luftwaffe and he continued to serve also in the new Luftwaffe from 1956 to 1974, when he retired as Oberstleutnant.
From the Finnish point of view, the most interesting part of his career was naturally between 1941 and 1943, when he served as a member and longtime Staffelkapitän of Zerstörerstaffel JG 5 in Northern Norway and Finnish Lapland.
He was awarded with EK I and II, Ehrenpokal, German Cross in Gold and Finnish Cross of Liberty, 4th Class.
Mr Schlossstein will give a short presentation at the Finnish Aviation Museum (near the Helsinki-Vantaa airport) on Saturday, August 20th at 14.00 o´clock.
