Re: Luftwaffe combat claims

Thank you everyone that has bothered to help me...I am very very grateful....

RodM, I've done as much as I can from an English speaking point of view...Records in the U.K. are notoriously difficult to get hold of, because of the nonsensical and quite frankly absurd legistation that exists in the British military authorities....

There may well be records from the MREU (Missing research and Enquiry Unit) but they are still highly confidential, in spite of the fact that the vast majority of the people they sought to protect with their privacy laws have either died or are in the process of dying. At any rate, some pompous man from the authorities was quite happy to tell me this Post War MREU was put together to find MIAs..and I know that isn't the case because they visited my Great Uncle's crash site in 1946. All 7 men were given a Christian burial by the Germans in 1943...and they are still there to this day.

My only hope is perhaps The German Archives (my German isn't even to primary school level) and/or personal combat reports from historians and collectors...I think a couple of the guys (Andy & Peter) have already pointed in that direction....but that's like finding a needle in a very large haystack....

But I thank everyone that has been kind enough to make some suggestions....
