Re: P-38 J, 42-67940, 485.fs
Hello Alexander,
This is the relevant bit from the short Statement made by 2Lt. Morrison.
"I saw Lt. Jarrell's chute open and followed him down from about 5,000 to 2,000. I saw him land in woods, his chute hanging up on the treetops".
This says nothing about the pilot still being in the chute.
Morrison is saying that he saw Jarrell land in woods and that he also saw Jarrels chute hung up in the treetops.
He does not say that he saw Jarrel still in the chute .
Perhaps you have more pages than those in Fold3.
However you have answered another question that I and others have wondered about, that being the fact that there is an IDPF Report even when the airman is still missing.
It seemed that an IDPF Report could only be made when the airmans remains were available for a report to be made of the cause of death and eventual internment either overseas or back in the USA.
All for now
Alex
