JUNE 9TH. - FILEY, YORKSHIRE.
At 3.3 P.M. the coastguard reported that a British aeroplane had crashed into the sea off Reighton Gap, and at 3.20 P.M. the motor life-boat The Cuttle was launched. The weather was foggy, with a light easterly wind, and a slight sea. The life-boat found that the aeroplane had been smashed to small pieces, and there was no sign of any survivors. She picked up pieces of the aeroplane, a wheel, the first-aid kit and other things, and returned to her station, arriving at 4.45 P.M. - Rewards, £9 6s. 6d.
