Does anyone know whether Illustrated magazine's photo archive was preserved intact and where it is currently located?

I have the Illustrated Book of World War II, a marvellous collection of vivid colour photographs (a birthday present from my equally marvellous wife Sandra in 1973). The book was published by Pan in 1972 and edited by Peter Simkins, then Keeper of the Department of Exhibits, Imperial War Museum.

There's a reference to The Conway Picture Library, but that leads to another dead-end.
