http://www.forums.luftwaffedata.co.uk has been able to identify this emblem as Verbindungsstaffel General der Schlachtflieger. I’m pleased to see I was correct about the ‘GDS’, although not about the actual unit. I assume that this was a headquarters liaison unit communicating with the various Schlachtflieger units? That would probably help to explain the wide geographical range of photos in the album….. although I can find absolutely nothing about this unit in my sources.
