CR42s in October 1944
According to a old Shore's book (Pictorial history of the mediterranean air war), CR42s were encountered twice in Zagreb area this month:
1) on the 14th, Spitfires of 73 Sqn RAF saw 3 CR42s in the air and shot down 2 of them.
2) on the 15th, Mustangs of 213 Sqn RAF claimed one more CR42 shot down.
These CR42s were possibly from 3./NSGr.7, that had 18 such biplanes at the start of the month, was based in Pleso (today Zagreb civilian airport) and reported 10 losses, including 4 to enemy action, during the month.
If anybody can confirm the above and give more details (Wnr and/or crew names/fate), it will be deeply appreciated.
