Hello,
A 311 squadron Wellington crew saw a Stirling being shot down over the target area!
But in fact the Stirling of W/Cdr Chapman was held in searchlight cones and shot down by Oblt Siegfried Wandam of 3./NJG 1 (23.00 h nr Terborg. source Theo Boiten).
A/C crashed at Rafelder/Etten municipality of Gendringen
Crew of 7 killed and buried at Gendringen. 7 squadron lost one Stirling out of 2 dispatched!!
