1./KG51 bomber escort
Hi Guys
Keep finding reference to 1./KG51, 2./KG51 and 3./KG51 claims for Soviet fighters as "Bomber escort" with the claimer stated as flying Bf109's. I know very little about bomber units, but would have thought these claims were by gunners, especially as they are nearly always by low ranking crew. Can anybody please enlighten me as to the facts.
