Unfortunately I cannot add more information about this specific crash, but it is interesting to note that III./JG 1 lost many aircraft and pilots that day. According to earlier research they lost 10 aircraft on 3 November 1943, including Werknummer 'brother' 27133, flown by Flg. Günther Ewald of 9./JG 1. This was 'yellow 10'. Among the other losses were also the Staffelkapitäne of 8./JG 1 and 9./JG 1.

III./JG 1 was stationed at Leeuwarden at the time, and they left the airfield at 12.43 hours. Their goal that day was to stop 556 American bombers and 416 US fighters that bombed targets in Germany (port of Wilhelmshaven). (Mombeeck)
