Re: Bf 110 C-4 WNr 3217

Mon cher Laurent, et al.,

According to the entries (one for each airman) in Veit Scherzer, Die personellen Verluste der deutschen Nachtjagdgeschwader 1940-1945, p. 147, the Bf 110C-4 WNr. 3217 became a 100 per. loss at sea in the area of Stenbjerg [sic], Denmark, on 21.02.42 during a Verlegungsflug. The aircraft was the G 9 + I E of 2.(Erg.)/NJG 1. Uffz. Ulrich Klaus FF and Obgefr. Helmut Willmeroth were missing.

Scherzer does not provide the Werknummer for the above aircraft. Without immediately searching, may I assume that you found it in the LwGQM 6. Abt. materiel loss reports?

Because the loss occurred in Denmark, it is possible that Jörn Junker, an exceedingly knowledge and generous reader of this forum, might be able to provide further addenda or corrigenda.

Hope this helps.
