I would very much like to see a photograph of a Chinese Spitfire.

The Soviets may have considered that as the PLAAF was doing a fairly good job keeping (Packard) Merlin-powered P-51s and Mossies operating, they could handle Spitfires. The Soviets sent the Chinese a lot of junk (e.g., MiG-9s that the Soviet Air Force wanted to dispose of rather than try and fly).
