Re: Do 24 vrs. Swedisch J 20

Hi Hans

On April 3rd 1945, a German Do 24 was reported crossing the Bay of Hanö. The Third Squadron of the F10 Wing was supposed to scramble two J 20 but only Erik Nordlund took off in serial number 2331 yellow E, without his wingman Sven Brise due to the latter having engine problems (not unusual with the rather clapped out Reggianes at this time). When Brise finally made it into the air Nordlund had already been hit. No exact details of the incident are known but 12.27H Nordlund was heard on the radio: "I am hit by fire from a Do 24, I return to Rinkaby". One minute later his last call was: "Can't land, I'm jumping, I'm jumping". But it was too late the aircraft exploded in the air and the wreckage fell a couple of kms from Sölvesborg.
On April 4th the German Government made an official excuse and promised to pay full compensation, but at that stage in the war I doubt anything further was done about that....

I have no record from which unit the Do 24 came from. Anyone else?
