Thanx. I have the book but hadn't seen this info. Unfortunately this doesn't square with my photo of what I think is a Stab I./KG26 He111 with a dark shield and white lettering, nor with the color rendition and caption in the recent de Zeng/Stankey book on Luft Bomber Units. My photo certainly doesn't show either a Gesch Stab or IV./Gruppe a/c, the only ones with dark shields and white lion/motto.

Something is still not straight here. Otherwise, I think that the Rudi Schmidt info is correct for the various Gruppen of KG26. Did the Gruppenstab of I./KG26 at the beginning of the war use Green shields for the Gruppenstab; that seems to be the question?
