AIR ESCORT REQUESTED FROM 0700 HOURS FOR HER RETURN PASSAGE TO PIRAEUS ROUTED THROUGH 3729.5,2511.5 EAST AND 3743.5, 2421.3 EAST “AFTER FINDING R211”. SECONDLY, LATE 28TH R BOATS WERE ON PASSAGE TO ASSIST 6 GERMAN AIRCRAFT SHOT DOWN OFF MIKONOS.

The recovery of the pilot shot down near MYKONS has been concluded.
11 men from 8A-DL have remained behind on MYKONOS, 3 men have remained behind on DELOS WITH THE Arado. Pilot, Gefr. NAU, WILLY, was buried in the cemetery at MYKONS on 30/1.
The search for the other a/c and crews was unavailing. Admiral AEGEAN Ops., will arrange to supply and fetch the men.
NOTE: 1) SYRA DELOS and MYKONOS are all in the CYCLADES group of islands.
2) Significance of 8A-DL not known.

AIR CONVOY SUFFERED SURPRISE ATTACK BY 5 BEAUFIGHTERS, THE ARADOS(?) WERE ENGAGED AND 2 PROBABLY SHOT DOWN THEY ARE STILL MISSING. 1 AR 196 AFTER BEING HIT WAS DITCHED AND TAXIED ONTO THE BEACH AT DELOS, THE CREW UNHURT. 1 JU52 DITCHED, THE CREW SWAM TO DELOS (WORD ILLEG).

1 Ju88 search for the Ju.52 which crashed out of a convoy during the forenoon of 28/1, Ju52 discovered burnt out on PARNIS.
