Re: Photos 8-9

Hello,

Code could also be E1. The people may be dressed for cold weather, so this seems unlikely to be 9.39. I've discussed this with one of our lead Polish researchers on the EoE project and his conclusion: "This must be a training unit. They were stationed at Deblin and Warsaw-Okecie."

On the subject of the new Ketley markings book, I just got my copy, and, although I like many features of it, including the layout format, and there is some new information, I was disappointed to find during a quick look, over a dozen significant errors or omissions for the 1939-40 period. These have already been discussed and resolved on this or the LEMB message boards, some a long time ago. Obviously Mr. Ketley doesn't read these boards. I'm tempted to start an errata list on this board for the publication, which I consider one of the key reference works in our field. Overall, there is no question that Barry Ketley has created an indispensable reference work, and I greatly applaud his efforts, but this new edition isn't the up-to-date, definitive reference work that the introduction claims. I know that there is another team, involving Peter Petrick and others in Germany, that is working on what I assume is a similar book. I just don't know when that one is due for publication. Does anyone know? I still have a lot of unresolved questions on the subject for the 1939-40 period.

Regards,
