May 12 1940, luftwaffe attack on RN destroyers
Hello
On May 12 1940 a British sailor washed up on the beach of Noordwijk(NL). The local police believed that he was a crewman of one of three Royal Navy destroyers that had been seen offshore during that morning and afternoon and that were attacked by German bombers. The sailor was found to have papers with the name “HMS Whitshed”.
Is there anything known about this air attack from both the British as the German side?
