The image of I have seen shows a standard Luftwaffe gravity knife.

Potassium cyanide capsule?? Seems pretty unlikely - and maybe some fanciful reportage!

To me, and without knowing the detailed nature or circumstances of the find or dive, it does seem strange that this was mis-identified as a Ju 87 and that it took so long to understand the error. There are, generally, sufficient clues (even in broken up wrecks) to establish airframe type at an early stage, and I'd have thought this to have been the case here. It isn't a criticism of the project, but an expression of some surprise!
