I think that, like the Loch Ness monster, photographic evidence is unlikely to be determinative.
However, I have been told there are reports in Foreign Office documents from the early 1950s in which someone -- a UK diplomat, traveller, or journalist -- said they saw (a) Spitfire(s) in the PRC. I do not believe the witness' aircraft recognition skills were detailed.
So, the mystery continues. It shall have to be considered with Amelia Earhart, Wing Commander Baldwin, and the Avro Tudors as unsolved.
