Fellows,
the Ersatzteilliste (replacement-parts-list) Bf109 G dated January 1944 lists the Ersatzteilnummer 109.136.081 for the "Waffenabdeckung oben vollständig", which is the complete cover of the MG 131 guns in front of the cockpit. If the a/c crashed in 1943 it's a G-5 or G-6.
