Hi.
I have checked the losses reported for III./JG 3 for the entire month of August 1944, and the only date where there were considerable losses of aircraft on the ground were August 7th.
A total of 10 aircraft (Bf 109G-6) reported as destroyed (damage 55% +) and 5 aircraft (Bf 109G-6) damaged (damage 10% - 55%)
So I guess Dr Prien may have made an error and Jean Bernard-Frappé got the date right.

Ahhh... but I have seen the holy grail! And it is painted RLM 76 all over with a large Mickey Mouse on the side, there is a familiar pilot in front of it and it has an Erla Haube!
