From Morten and my Focke-Wulf Fw 190 in the Battle for Sicily book:
" Fritz Holzapfel had finished his training with the 1. Staffel of the Ergänzungs-Jagdgruppe West in mid-1942, and was posted to 7./JG 2, with whom he flew his first mission on 23 June 1942. He was promoted to Oberleutnant in January 1943. His nineteenth and last mission with 7./JG 2 was a scramble on 8 March 1943, and on 12 April he was transferred to 13./SKG 10."
