Its easier to set your keyboard LAYOUT to (US-)International, this way you can access all the special keys without a need for any extra code or knowledge.

~+a=ã

'+c=ç

`+e=è

'+e=é

"+e=ë

Combined with other letters it makes up for those special letters, not sure if this is forced by the international keyboard setting, but [CTRL][ALT][s] = ß

Haven't used ALT-keys for ages, this beats it every time. Only snag is that if you want to use these signs independantly you need to press space after the key, so ['][space]='

If the letter you are typing does not combine, then you can proceed without space.

Takes a day to get used to and then you'll never look back.
