Re: Pilots of No.316 " Warszawski" Squadron .
Bohdan Anders in No. 316 Sqn in 1941.
He was a member of the 12th class of the Polish Air Force College and both he and Malczewski were commissioned as of 1 August 1939, so in September 193 they were both sub-lieutenants (podporucznik). As members of the class have been with their operational units at the time and there was no formal commissionning ceremony, in the chaos of the initial period of war many units were unaware that the cadet officers (podchorazy) had meanwhile become officers, so they were entered in many documents of September 1939 as 'cadet officers' rather than commissioned officers. This is incorrect and with hindsight they should be referred to as sub-lieutenants.
On re-check I admit that the information about him being posted to the 131st Flight before the outbreak of war is incorrect. He went to war with the 132nd, but apparently was reposted to the 131st during the campaign.
I found no trace of Anders ever claiming any victories over Poland in 1939. He is certainly not credited officially with any.
