Hi Andrew,
if it indeed reads II./234, it could make some sense: it might be related to II. Gruppe / Jagdgeschwader 234 (2nd Group of Fighter Wing 234), a pre-war unit based in Düsseldorf in 1938. J. Gr. could be the abbreviation for Jagdgruppe (Fighter Group) therefore.
