pics/info desert hurricanes 274th Sqn RAF

Hi all,

i am searching for pics and info about Hawker Hurricanes in service with 274th Sqn RAF. Of very interest are all related pics but especially such showing the flash-fuselage roundel, either early type (white or yellow flash with type A1 or A2 roundel) or later type (dark blue flash with type C1 roundel).

274th Squadron served with Mk. I Hurricanes from summer 1940 to autumn 1941, then (or later in may 1942, differing infos depending on sources) with the Mk II variant and most likely from may 1942 onwards the MkIIb and MkIIc (fighter-bombers) in northern africa.

Good pics of the 274th Sqn RAF desert hurricanes are generally rare.
Found pics with just roundels, no codes/flashes, with white or yellow flashes (Imperial war museum collection, 1940-41?), with NH squadron codes (osprey, late 1941/early 1942) but no flashes and finally with blue flashes and a white individual letter (autumn 1942). One pic (Imperial War Museum) is showing a MkII variant
with C1 type roundel and indiviual aircraft letter behind (A) only. No flashes.

Does anyone know exactlier which kind of markings were used during which period?

There is a nice inflight colour photograph from MkIIb serial HL795, aircraft letter V, showing the dark blue flash going through the (C1) roundel. The pic is dated october 1942. Does anyone know other pics showing hurricanes with exactly these markings?

Thank you very much
and
all the best

Armin
