Re: Ju-188 werknumber 260228

Can't add much the KG6 history (Jan Horn) says following Spritmangel the crew bailed out 4Km east of St.Truiden on 22-01-44
''5 Fallschirme beobachtet, aber 4 Mann landen unverletzt. Ein Funfer Mann der Uffz. Wilhelm Ferdnand wird tot geborgen '' which I believe translates as 5 parachutes observed with four men landing safe and the fifth found dead.
The NVM shows Bs Uffz Wilhelm Ferdinand, reservist born 13-10-1912 at Hochst bei Frankfurt a./M. ''Nach Fallshirmabsprung tot aufgefunden''. Heldenfriedhof in Brusthem bei St.Trond Belgium Grab Nr.102.
From the wording I assume the chute opened but he was killed hitting the aircraft, or on landing.

Just noticed Grave no 103 is the final resting place of Bs Uffz.Karl Patzer from 3E+DL crew baled out following Kraftstoffmangel 16Km ESE of Liege on the 22nd. 4 parachutes observed, Uffz Karl Patzer ' aus unbekannter Ursache nur tot geborgen werden ' (Horn). NVM shows 'Nach Fallschirmabsprung tot gefunden'.
